Idaho's Standard Concealed Weapons License is one of the most accessible nonresident licenses available. There is no live-fire requirement, the training can be completed online, and Idaho issues to people who do not live there.

For someone building travel coverage across the Mountain West, Idaho is often paired with a home-state license and one Southeastern license to cover very different parts of the country. The absence of a range requirement means the only real costs are the course and the county's application fee.

One distinction to keep straight: Idaho also offers an Enhanced license with heavier requirements and broader recognition. This course is for the Standard license. If your goal specifically depends on the Enhanced credential, that is a different path.

Idaho residents apply through the sheriff of their county of residence. Note that Idaho residents 18 and older may carry concealed without a license in most of the state — the license exists mainly for reciprocity and for locations where it still matters.
